Description

Nitrocellulose membranes are a vital component of rapid diagnostic test kits, providing the surface on which antigen–antibody interactions take place. Produced under stringent quality control measures, Unitech Filtration membranes are cast onto transparent polyester backings to ensure high uniformity. They deliver consistent results across batches, exhibit sharp and well-defined control/test lines, and maintain low background interference for improved test clarity.

Membranes are directly cast on a transparent polyester
backing to improve the handling strength. Standard
polyester film is 100µm thick.

Technical Data

The wicking rate is an important characteristic of NC membrane for
lateral flowtests and primarily determines the reaction kinetics.
Unitech membranes are designated by poresize/wickingrate and
have reporducible and defined wicking rates. The wickingrate of
blocked membranes will, however, depend on the blocking protocol.

Consistency and Stability

NC membranes has long been an issue for manufacturers of membrane based assays. By an optimized
surface chemistry and unique processing techniques, Unitech has resolved these issues. Unitech
membranes are highly consistent and exhibit extremely low variation. Typical coefficient of variation (CV)
for thickness of membrane is 3.2% where as that for the wicking rate is 3.8%
